We came for a pre-theater dinner. The food was excellent - well prepared, beautifully presented, and delicious. I had the pear salad and the duck; my husband had the escargot and the short ribs. All great. The service was very attentive, and, though we didn’t have a lot of time, we never felt like we had to rush. There are many good restaurants in Montclair, but this one is one of the best.

Bistro 18 was a great find for us! The cuisine was excellent, especially (for me) the lamb entree. The setting (some tables are set beside a row of stores closed for the evening - kind of like an indoor promenade) is unusual and may not be to everyone’s liking. Parking in Montclair is difficult on Saturday evenings, but the restaurant has a small private lot across the street, so look for that if you go. Overall a satisfying and relaxed dining experience.

Ordered the Grilled Shrimp and Arugula Salad appetizers to start and both were wonderful. All 4 main courses were prepared and cook to perfection (Tuna special, Short Ribs and Seafood Pasta) Service was very attentive and were there to pour our BYOB wines and beer. The gelato dessert and Peanut Butter Tartufo was outstanding. There are 3 seating options ; 2 sparsely decorated dining rooms and 1 dining area outside of the restaurant which is inside a glass enclosed arcade/atrium. This area has a European look to it as you are looking at a line of stores on one side and the street on the other.
